20 ANNIVERSARY SHOW AND CELEBRATION: PART ONE

As I have mentioned before this is the 20th Year of our Theatre in London Program.  We started doing our productions at the Wimbledon Studio Theatre in 1994, and after having been to a number of other theatres, we returned to the New Wimbledon Studio.  It brought back a lot of memories of past productions.  This year's production of How I Learned to Drive by Paula Vogel was excellent.  The whole process from the beginning went very smoothly.  The cast and designers were awesome and so well prepared.  In our first read-through the entire cast was memorized which made the rest of the rehearsal process go incredibly well.  Everyone was on top of it!  The designers also had everything pretty much ready before we moved into the theatre.  We rehearsed in the classroom and painted the vinyl floor in the parking lot behind the flats.  It took three days to paint the flooring and most of the cast helped!  Everyone was so cooperative and into the whole rehearsal process!  Miranda designed the set, Dovie the lighting, Matt the projections, Karina the sound, props, and painting, Anna wardrobe with the cast aiding in all these areas!  A job well done!

Notice the wonderful floor in all of these pictures above and the one below.

After Saturday's rehearsal Miranda, Karina, and a few students sealed the floor because we knew an acting class was going to be in the space on Sunday morning.  Come to find out there were three acting classes in the space and when we came to the theatre for rehearsal on Monday, this is what we found!

Needless to say we were pretty upset.  For a process to have been going perfectly, we did not need this glitch.  The entire floor was a wreck.  I began rehearsal early so that we could start repainting the floor.  The whole cast and crew pitched in and had the base coat redone before going home Monday night. The next day Miranda and Karina came in the morning and began doing more detail work.  Others joined them at noon.  We then resealed the floor and were ready for our final dress rehearsal and opening night!!!  Whew!  I was really impressed how everyone rallied!!!  Typical of this class!
